Is It That Serious: Chicago teen carjacked cop when it was too cold to walk

A 17-year-old South Chicago man accused of beating an off-duty police officer and stealing her car because he was cold is being held in lieu $250,000 bail at the Cook County Jail. At about 9:25 p.m Sunday, George I. Floyd, of the 8200 block of South Marquette Avenue, approached a 39-year-old officer as she was entering her residence on the 1500 block of East 85th Street, according to Assistant State's Atty. Erin Antonietti. Floyd allegedly pushed her to the ground and began beating her.

The woman identified herself as a police officer, but Floyd continued to punch her in the head and body, then took the keys to her 2002 Chevrolet Tracker and drove off. He was arrested in the 8800 block of South Houston Avenue about 10 minutes later after leading police on a brief car chase, authorities said. After his arrest, he allegedly admitted to attacking the officer and stealing her vehicle.
